Provide high-quality delivery of a\r\nbroad range of library services, including instruction, reference, and\r\ncollection management, to a diverse community of users in support of the\r\nCollege's curriculum and mission

  • Prepares and delivers lectures to students on various\r\n topics in relation to a specific discipline
  • Evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory\r\n work, assignments and papers
  • Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework\r\n assignments and handouts
  • Keeps abreast of developments in the field by reading\r\n current literature, speaking with colleagues and participating in\r\n professional conferences
  • Maintains student attendance records, grades and other\r\n required records
  • Initiates, facilitates and moderates classroom\r\n discussions
  • As needed, advises students on academic and vocational\r\n curricula and on career issues
  • Plans, evaluates and revises curricula, course content\r\n and course materials and methods of instruction
  • Compiles, administers and grades examinations
  • Collaborates with colleagues to address teaching and\r\n research issues
  • Maintains regularly scheduled office hours to advise\r\n and assist students
  • Selects and obtains materials and supplies such as\r\n textbooks and laboratory equipment
  • Serves on academic or administrative committees that\r\n deal with institutional policies, department matters and academic issues
  • Participates in campus and community events

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Library Science from an accredited\r\n ALA program
  • Strong commitment to information literacy instruction,\r\n and demonstrated aptitude for teaching in multiple formats
  • Ability to provide individual research assistance and\r\n instruction on the fly, in person, or online
  • Experience with automated library systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in database searching and\r\n information retrieval
  • Working knowledge of new and emerging technologies and\r\n familiarity with their impact on higher education
  • Familiarity with current trends and issues in\r\n information literacy training and critical thinking skills training
  • Teaching experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Suite (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and\r\n training design, teaching and instruction for students
  • Advanced communication (verbal, written and\r\n interpersonal) and organizational skills
  • Logic and reasoning skills to identify solutions, conclusions\r\n or approaches to problems
  • Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a\r\n diverse population

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated teaching experience of an information\r\n literacy course
  • Experience in providing library services in a dynamic\r\n and diverse multi-campus community college, public library, or university\r\n environment
  • Being a successful advocate for new initiatives in\r\n library services
  • Ability to build strategic alliances both within and\r\n across disciplines, and within and outside the College
  • Familiarity with Sierra, Blackboard, Banner, LibGuides\r\n and/or similar products
  • Ability to adapt to and master new software and\r\n emerging technology
  • Community college teaching experience
